Instameet & Challenge at the Cordero di Montezemolo winery to celebrate the 160th birthday of the Cedar of Lebanon
“Change your opinions, keep to your principles; change your leaves, keep intact your roots.” Victor Hugo
Time spent in nature among trees is never wasted. The people of the Langhe have held this to be true for at least 160 years, since the day a young couple, Costanzo Falletti and Eulalia Della Chiesa, fell in love with the land and planted the now-famous Cedar of Lebanon on the hills of Monfalletto of La Morra. Today, the area is the seat of the Cordero di Montezemolo winery.
The symbol of love and eternity, this ancient tree is one of the most romantic spots of the Langhe, and is the favored spot for couples to declare their love for one another.
To celebrate this important anniversary, the Cordero di Montezemolo family—direct descendants of the couple who planted the tree—will organize an Instagram tour on Saturday, September 10. The community managers of the Instagram accounts Instagramers Italia, Piemonte, Torino, Langhe, and several local managers from outside the region will be taking part in the tour. They’ll tell the story of the cedar and its territory through their pictures. Discover the heart of Barolo and the vineyard landscapes of the Langhe, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage in 2014, by following their posts throughout the day.
Beginning at 2:30 pm, the event will be open to all Instagram users. Participants and the Italian influencers will be guided through a visit of the Monfalletto winery and up to the beautiful, old tree for a photographic walk, which concludes under the cedar’s branches with a toast of Cordero di Montezemolo’s wine.
For those who cannot participate in the Instameet, you can still take part virtually. The national #COMEALBERI challenge begins Saturday, September 10: a photography contest partnered with Instagram. Take pictures of trees (the older the better!) with the hashtags #comealberi #igerspiemonte #igerslanghe.
The most beautiful photos will be displayed beginning on October 1, 2016 at the winery of Cordero di Montezemolo. The top three, selected by the family, will receive a special Cordero di Montezemolo award.
So get your smartphones ready! The Cordero di Montezemolo family invites you to the September 10, 2016 event under the canopy of the Cedar of Lebanon, or virtually on Instagram by sharing beautiful pictures of trees—don’t forget, #comealberi!
