Sunday, May 12 Piedmont and Liguria come together at the table for a wine tasting of Gavi DOCG 2012.
Go, Gavi, Go! Gavi 2012 will be presented to tourists and wine lovers during a day dedicated to this local white wine produced on the borders of southeast Piedmont and Liguria. Beginning at 11:00 am on Sunday, May 12 at the Medieval Fortress of Gavi, the public is invited to discover the flavors and aromas of the latest harvest. During the day, nine producers come together in the Circuito Golden Gavi, offering their Gavi 2012 for tastings. For wine lovers, it's the perfect occasion to discover new wines of the territory in direct contact with the producers.
Entrance to the Fortress is free, while wine tastings will cost 10 euros per ticket (including the special wine glass "Golden Gavi," yours to keep). Proceeds will be given to the association "Friends of the Fortress" to help with the restoration and to the Franciscan Convent of Gavi.
Food and Wine pairing: Gavi Marries Pesto
The tasting of Gavi DOCG will be accompanied with an original menu named in honor of the role Liguria has in connection with Piedmont, especially in this area: pesto. Get ready for a hand-mortared pesto competition organized by Roberto Ciccarelli and Stefania Passaro, founders of the cultural Association "We are Seafolk" (Siamo Gente Di Mare) and other wine lovers equally enthusiastic for Ligurian culinary traditions.
